The over the top move

I'm only 19 but when I play with alot of the older guys at my club it's like they all have the same swing, they all take it back inside and come over the top on the downswing and hit that weak slice, one of the lads saw me hitting and wondered how I was hitting it so pure and was looking for me to give him some tips as he says he had been playing the game for 10 years and hasn't really improved, I sure alot of you have that similar shot, keep an eye on your divots im sure over 80% of your divots point quite sharply left (for a right handed golfer).

When you come in steep and over the top it's easy to hit fat and your only hitting the ball with a sideways tud, not a nice inside motion that will hit nicely into the back of the ball for that lovely draw motion, some tips to use would be to feel like your swinging out to first base with a baseball bat on your downswing or try to feel like your left arm and right elbow are tucking in close to your body to start your downsing, when you do this correctly your club will come in on the perfect swing path for a powerful, accurate and consistant swing, your body will then naturally rotate to a nice full finish and you can say goodbye to that slice you had for years.

Remember, I'm assuming you have the basics like a fairly flat left wrish hinge,
do not have your wrist cupped as even if you come on the inside path and you have a cupped wrist it will require you to be handsy to square the club so keep your left wrist flat and firm so you can release fully and freely.

    Any orther questions just ask.

your mixing up plane shifts with ball flight, plenty of pros suck it way inside and return it on a higher plane.

divots should point left with a well struck iron, ..how much will depend on whether your a turner or a slider.

There's a guy in our club off 23/24 always giving everyone unsolicited advice about swing, club selection, how do play bunker shots. He reminds me of someone

I've gotta feeling your tip isn't appreciated by the people here. When somebody asks for help about how to fix a slice then by all means pontificate.
