Hi Guys, very new to this so please move if in wrong place!

My Daughter had an incident a couple of weeks back where she was held against her will by a 45 yr old man. The gardai have been informed but have said it is possible that she may have to stand up in court and speak about the incident which she is very afraid to do. It has been left up to her whether or not she wants to press charges (up untill hearing about standing up in court she was all for it) and now i fear he may get away because she is terrified of having to speak about it especially on front of him. Is there any way where her statement would be sufficient enough of will it come down to her standing up in court as i dont think she is fit to do it after the experience.

She is currently attending counselling over the whole issue. She is 17 by the way.

Ultimately, if the matter goes to hearing (trial) she would need to give evidence in court.

She should be able to give evidence by video link. Doesn't physically have to be in the room.

Telling the truth is the most important thing.
