had sex a week before my period (8 days ago)
we used a condom (i'm not on pill) he checked it said it didn't break
My period was due yesterday never came
took a test today it was negative, but i'm presuming even if i am pregnant a test wouldn't show it that early.
Christ I sound like i'm 16 - but just have this gut instinct i am.
I'm freaking out, the thought of having to wait another whole week to test again makes me sick, it would be a such a disaster right now, one silly ONS, i'm so stupid, help :(

Freaking out can also make your period late, so try not to (easier said than done, I know!). Perhaps try one of the digital tests, they test for a hormone only present in pregnancy and can be used from the day your period was due - it also says "pregnant" or "not pregnant" so there is absolutely no ambiguity.

    Best of luck

Like the previous poster said, worrying about it can make you late. Also you may just have ovulated this cycle later than usual, so your period is later, happens to everyone from time to time. Go to the chemist and get one of the pregnancy tests that say they are accurate from the first day of a missed period, in fact some of them are so sensitive they will detect a preganancy 4 or 5 days before you are even due. Its the only way to put your mind at ease, good luck.

Had a pregnancy scare last month, it is absolutely terrifying... but I will say that it's so easy to convince yourself of something that might not necessarily be true. I just happened to be more bloated than usual, and had a little twingy pain in my lower abdomen for weeks that I was convinced was 'implantation pains'.... but I wasn't pregnant. Try not to freak out. Easier said than done, I know.

The best advice you could get on this would be from your doctor. Much better to find out earlier than later either way. It will get rid of the worry. Believe me. I've had it confirmed positive and negative over the years and the relief is great.
