I got the Skyfire app as soon as it became available to watch rte player, but it doesn't work. How do I go about getting a refund from the app store. I will delete the app as it's of no use to me

Unless the app was advertised as being compatible with rte player specifically, i'm not sure you could get a refund if it works in every other aspect.

Did the App say it would work with RTE Player?

Anything I've read about Skyfire over the past few days has explicitly said that it will only work with Flash video, not with Flash games or interfaces. The RTE player site uses Flash for the whole interface (menus, scrollbars, text, etc) so it was pretty obviously not going to work.

I don't see what grounds you'd have for a refund, to be honest. Maybe the developers would do it as a good will gesture if you contacted them.

EDIT: To answer the general question on how to go about requesting a refund, here's a link a quick search in Google turned up about the process:

If it was Android market yes you could get refund. You are probably out of luck with Apple. Still dont give up, try.

I don't see why you should get a refund, the app clearly states that it only works with flash video and seen as the rte player website not just the videos is flash based then you should of known that it wouldn't work,i don't see why you would have no use for the app,it is a lot better than safari, just use the thing it cost less than €3.

I am not very technical. Flash is flash as far as I was concerned. I posted links to videos - not player that don't work either

Please give me an example of videos that work in Skyfire and don't in Safari and I'll re assess whether it's any good.

It's not so much the €2.39 - it's the principal.

Contact Apple support. It really depends on a case by case basis.

When you buy an app the developer does not get the money straight away, it is held for a set time (I forget how long, 23 days?). In that time it may be more possible to get a refund without annoying the developers.

Apple generally don't give refunds, but they have one time for me. I bought the wrong app (US version of an app instead of EU). So they fixed that for me.

Other then that talk to the guy who develops the app. Apple takes a cut from the sale, so if they do offer a discount then they do so at a loss.

if it is a case of the app never working Apple may refund.

I like how the price has steadily increased as the thread goes on.

But, yea, their servers are in the US, so even if they did support RTE player you'd only have access to the stuff available internationally.
    FEATURES:
    - Play millions of Flash videos - everyday, with no limits!
    - All-new 'Skybar' toolbar gives one-click access to video and related content
    - Be social: Share via Facebook and Twitter.
    - Stay in touch: Unique Facebook 'Quickview' allows you to see your wall and feeds with one click.
    - Standard browser elements: Tabs, search, sharing, bookmarks, history, etc.
    - Video search, with safe search option helps you quickly find videos about your favorite topic
    - 'Desktop' option loads pages as on a desktop browser, giving a greater selection of video (vs. mobile sites)
    - Private Browsing option: Browse with no history and cookies left behind
    - Click the 'Explore' button for related videos, news trends, photos and tweets!

    NOTES:
    - Flash VIDEO content is supported, but Flash Games and Apps are NOT supported (aren't there enough games on iPhone already?)
    - Hulu NOT supported (they don't allow it), but scores of other premium sites available
    - List of supported sites grows daily (request new sites via Settings >> Feedback menu)
    - It may take 15-25 seconds for videos to load: Preparing goodness takes time...
Nowhere there does it say every flash video is supported. They have to add support for each site individually from what I gather. Sorry to say you have no grounds for a refund of your €2.39. And also, Apple make devs refund the entire amount themselves, putting them out of pocket by 30% of the cost. (Or they did, not sure if this is still the practice)

Generally sales are final from the App Store as stated in the terms and conditions. However, the staff there are generally willing to make what they call a "one time exception" if your issue is genuine.

Just look at your purchase history through iTunes and use the report a problem link to send them an email.
