SplashLite - useful DVB player and more

I was looking for some free software to handle my Happauge/Pinnacle e300 USB DVB-T tuner. I usually use VLC with added MPEG4 codec but it is inclined to crash and is heavy on CPU usage.

I just found one tonight called SplashLite - they will try to get you to buy the Pro version of course, but the basic free one (Lite) is fine for me. It is designed to be a player for HD media and the Tuner bit is thrown in - but it is impressive. Nice clean interface, lots of information about the data streams, less stuttering and blockiness than VLC.

There's no menu though to choose channels - just step through RTE1, RTE2, etc.

I didn't have to go find a codec (though maybe that's 'cos it was already there for VLC!) and SplashLite found all the channels in seconds.
One thing - I haven't been able to find if there is EPG data on it - think it's only on the Pro version.

It's less techie and adjustable than VLC or some of the others - but might be worth a look as it's, well, clean is the wod that comes to mind.
