Hopefully someone here will have an idea. My bf's ipad screen has broken :(Does anyone know if theres a repair center and how much (approx) it would be to repair?

My mother is going to America shortly and Im wondering would it be cheaper to buy new rather than repairing.

apple will repair it,see the linked page

you may be able to get it done locally cheaper, but that will void your warranty

Hey, thanks for the reply. You see it was bought in America as a gift and Im not sure they have the receipt anymore so I dont think it would still be covered under warranty...Id wonder if you got it replaced for cheaper is the touch screen still as sensitive.

It depends on what's wrong with the screen... if it got damaged / dropped accidentally, then you're out of luck (unless your b/f has accidental insurance cover). If it's a fault with the unit though, then it should be covered by warranty.

If it is a fault / warranty issue, then don't worry about the receipt - you don't need it. You can check if it's still under warranty by inputting the serial number on Apple's website site here

Also, it doesn't matter where it was bought - you'll still be able to return to a local repair centre. A huge % of iPad are bought abroad (e.g. in airport Duty Free) so that's not an issue.

I'd be careful dispensing that advice. The warranty actually states that they MAY get you to return it to the original country of purchase for warranty repair, so may not be as clear cut as that.

Fair point - I stand corrected if that's what the website says... but in practice, that's not what happened to me:

A few years ago I bought a 5th gen iPod from Apple Store during a trip to the US. The screen went faulty after a few months. It was replaced under warranty here in Ireland.

I bought a 2nd hand iPod touch earlier this year. It was just a couple of months old at the time. The gyroscope failed after 2 months. I checked the website & it was still under wty. Apple collected it & replaced it free of charge. I never needed to provide a receipt.

Yes if you bought it in America, the serial will register automatically on Apples computers, so there is no need to show proof of purchase:)
