church music

    Hi all

    I am contemplating having a band consisting of an Uilleann Piper,Tin whistle and guitar/vocals for music during the Church ceremony of our wedding.

    has anyone previously experienced this at a wedding?
    how did it sound/work out?
    I am probably more interested in the Uilleann pipes.

    Tim,

    I've played uilleann pipes, whistles, harp and fiddle at weddings and at my own, had uilleann pipes, fiddle and harp playing. The piper also played low whistles. So I think it works out well.

    I'd suggest having a piper who can also play flutes/low whistles as the pipes would be a little too harsh for some parts of the cermony. The vast majority of pipers who'd be used to playing at weddings will probably guide you in this direction anyway.

    Thanks for your reply. what sort of songs/music would be appropriate for the ceremony?

    we both really like the song "she moved through the fair" and would like to incorporate it into the ceremony maybe before herself arrives.
    I heard a band do it in this style before and it was brilliant.
