After the frustration of having three, yep, three of them, batteries die on me in-a-row! A heavy box has just arrived with a 28amp & 33amp battery, both significantly cheaper (€53 & €64 or something like that) than the 18amp batteries I had been buying (€75).

I need never sleep again now :D

Out of interest where did you pick up the batts?

Ebay, ordered them Saturday night I think and they arrived late this afternoon by courier. Search for 12v sealed lead acid battery.

Watch out for any battery that looks very cheap. It's likely it'll have extremely high postage charges.

Ordered another battery from radionics earlier to power my Yukon Digital Ranger, try and ambush this lamp shy fox I'm after.

Yet to find out if they last the distance but hey ho I'll take the chance for the money.

The 33amp must weigh a ton John. I have a 22amp Deben and I'm by no means a small fella and find it rather awkward and cumbersome to lug around for an hour an more, hard on the neck more so. I must invest in a tidy ruck sack:rolleyes:

I have the 22amp deben pack (the one with the shoulder strap only) and it cuts into the shoulder, the strap is ****e to say the least with no padding at all. Definitely going to purchase a tidy rucksack or an ass as mentioned above:D

Mine was the 14ah twin batt belt pack but I found it very hard on the hips, especially if out with the lurchers as you are quite often running with 2 batteries banging off your waist !! The 2 traps were made out of 2inch webbing and made all the difference, albeit a bit of a cat cradle to put on

Had the 33amp out from, oh roughly 6.30 - 10pm, something like that anyway I wasn't keeping the best of track. Weighs in or around 10kg and I do know it's there :D Forgot my rope that I tie across my chest tightening in the rucksack straps, won't be forgetting it again. Banging out the light with the 75W bulb.

Deben have never field tested those medieval torture devices they call shoulder packs. That's patently obvious to anyone who's had one on for a night. I use a backpack because I can throw the camera, small lamp, insulation tape, screwdriver, yadda yadda in the small pockets. But, if you don't want to do that then some old seatbelt or wide straps will do to modify it into a backpack I guess.

Will defo go with a backback too John, and that idea of the rope:D around the chest is a good idea also to restrainn a little more. I think some rucksacks come with them. As you said Deben never thought out that shoulder strap:rolleyes: I have them now for years but never actually rectified it until very soon;)

Wide shoulder straps help distribute the weight. A good bottom in the bag is a help too, mine is in shreds, a folded towel is all that's keeping it together :D
