After Finn and Sam find an unconventional way of controlling their urges, a few glee club members pick up on the strategy and start using it too. But when Coach Beiste gets wind of what they are up to, the glee club has some explaining to do.

I thought it was a good episode overall, Teenage Dream was absolutely fantastic, as were the mash-ups.

However I was quite annoyed that they went down the whole "he's only bullying you because he's secretly gay" route:rolleyes: I've always really respected the time and effort they have put into telling Kurts story and I was glad to hear they were going to feature an episode on gay bullying given the recent goings on in the US, but this felt like a a bit of a cop out!! It was still a good episode with a great message and it was good to see Kurt standing up for himself, as well as the positive role model Blaine. But.. I think it could've sent a more profound message if they hadn't gone down such a clichéd path!!

That was amazing! One of my favourite episodes of glee ever.I literally gasped when
    the bully kissed Kurt.So intense.
My favourite song was teenage dream, such beautiful harmonies.... IMO Glee is really starting to hit its stride this season. This episode really reminded of the old glee i fell in love with this time last year. The casting of gwyneth paltrow worries me a bit(i wish they'd veer clear of the stunt casting) but the preview for next weeks episode made me feel a little better about it .Overall a near perfect episode.9/10:)

Kurt is really taking centre stage this season and thats good because Chris is a great actor imo

BTW that footballer wasn't Kurt's first kiss. Kurt made out with Brittany in Season 1 in the episode called Laryngitis. When he kissed Kurt I gasped I didnt see that coming

I'm delighted Puck and his mohawk is back :)

I am kind of tired of Sam and Quinn already maybe cause I'm still not keen on Sam who is a worse dancer than Finn :D

Blaine is a great character and loved Teenage Dream. Darren Criss is good addition to the cast.

I felt sorry Coach Beiste confessing that she was 40 and never been kissed. Will was sweet for giving her her first kiss.

One of the best episodes of Glee imo.

I don't know what you've been watching but the angle Glee have took with that storyline is one of the most interesting choices they've ever made. The clichéd route would have been 'the gay guy teaches the bully the error of his ways', not what they did. It opens up some interesting plot threads and the chance to address homophobia in a way that doesn't come across as an after-school special, with ignorance being the simple route cause. It was the high point of a fantastic episode overall.

 The first half of the episode was cringeworthy. One Love was completely awful and an absolute massacre of that song.

Puck is back to being the "badass" but it feels forced and random.

The girl's medley was pretty good.

Loved the little "surprise" in the locker room with Kurt.

LOL seriously at the kiss between beiste and will schuester.

The boy's mashup song was pretty bad too.

While alot of you praised it, i felt it was average, it was another Glee after school special, even the gay bully is actually gay was an utter cliche. The mashups did nothing for me, i think Teenage Dream was the best song.

Not much music in this ep. - not much humour, but Brittany once again provide the laughs when Will said throwing the baby out with the bathwater, and Brittany - i've totally done that.....LOL!

Very little Rachel, lol...is she being sidelined this season or what?, lol...i bet Lea is pissed, good!, the Kurt stuff was grand as is this new guy, i felt they are really ramming down our throats the "poor Beiste" thing, like everytime they try make us feel sorry for her.

I didn't enjoy it as much as others, felt a little flat to me.

I disagree, and agree with the poster you're replying to, it was an utter cliche the jock bully was closeted and gay.

The other scenario, that he learns his lesson and comes to some realisation, is easily the option more regularly took - it's the basic 'treat people with respect' mantra every teenybopper show and after-school special since the 1950's has expoused. They have enough of a crew of misfits that the one gay main character doesn't need to follow that rather boring path.

I loved that episode, the thing with Kurt in the locker room was so sad! I feel so bad for the footballer guy, it was actually a really interesting route they took with it, had it been comes out/error of his ways crap, then it would have been ****, but I really think they showed the inner turmoil of the footballer quite well. I hope they keep it going. Songs were average, but the rest of it was good. The private school was excessively perfect and unrealistic though.

Songs were patchy - the Teenage Dream arrangement was amazing - I thought Kurt was dreaming of life in the school, so perfect was it! The girls' medley was good too but wasn't gone on the other songs. I fail to see how New Directions could possibly beat the Warblers in sectionals after this ep!

Kurt's kiss shocked me - I didn't expect that as the bully character has been around for a while and bullies everyone in Glee, not just Kurt. I agree that to have made the bully back off when Kurt stood up to him would have been way more unrealistic - life is not like that. Maybe it threatens some people when a masculine character is revealed as gay and they feel uneasy (one for the psychologists, maybe). The new guy seems like a good character.

And it was good that the never kissed storyline had a flip with Beiste - the image of her in the cheerleaders outfit and the other stuff will live with me for a while:D Very little Sue but the scene with her gloating manically when the confetti cannons went off was fantastic. Still missing Terri though - one appearance in six episodes is pretty poor...

And finally 'ab watch': Sam (must be in his contract - every week the chest is on show) and Mike. Glee catering to its female/ gay male audience!

Following his debut as Dalton Academy’s smooth, openly gay student Blaine, Deadline is reporting that Darren Criss is in talks to become a series regular.

Teenage Dream was the best-selling song ever in the history of the show

I liked it. The footballers blatant aggressive homophobia mascarading homosexual feelings I thought was quite good. Kurt has suffered alot of homophobic jibes from the football team but this guy's was quite pronounced, and explained the reason for it.

Love new glee singer his lips are amazing, would so love to try them out

Kurts character really annoys me. He is so self absorbed. I was expecting him to throw a hissy fit when the bully kissed him as he now wasnt the only gay in the school :P

Can anybody explain why Kurt wanted to sing with the girls? He is gay not female.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,305 ✭✭✭Chuchoter

Kurt, although I like him, is a highly stereotypical portrayal of a gay character. It would be nice if they brought in a slightly less stereotypical person. The reason he sings with the girls in the show however, is because his register fits more with girls that the boys songs. There is also the issue of the boys making fun of him or having anything in common with him

There are three types of gay man: top, bottom and versatile.

    How's that offensive?

Nice to know you are able to assign a group of millions into 3 groups with 3 personalities. Kurt's character says nothing about what he likes to do in bed. We know he is gay, we know he is effeminate, we know he has a host of other traits, none of which are to do with actually having sex.

Anyway love Teenage Dreams- wouldn't mind hooking up with him!!!

Being gay is all about sex! It's a sexual orientation!

Not exactly, but just because he is effeminate does not mean he is a 'bottom' in bed. It also doesn't mean he is a woman/identifies with women.
