It may be to do with their accounting systems. There shouldn't be any reason why this wouldn't work, technically anyway. If the TV cable is in the house, for whomever has the TV service, then it's just a matter of attaching the cable modem.

I assume it's a house mate that has the TV service? Can you make an arrangement between each other at all?

Yeah it's a house and no not really....I wanted the BB completely separate and paid through my bank account, there's already an analogue point upstairs I could have had the BB run from 2 digital downstairs but hey ho

I'd imagine it's down to an accounting issue.
An inability to have two accounts in the one address on their system.

Could you ask them for split ledgers?
That way it would be the one account but two seperate bills.

Split ledgers?? I assume that's one account with 2 separate bills?? ;)

you would think the rep on the phone might have suggested it....it's more money for them after all

It would have been a sales agent you were speaking to.
You know yourself, most companies only train sales agents in making sales.
Try and speak to a billing agent.

I don't know if it's possible now, but it's probably your only chance.

can't you just set up a standing order to transfer the money to your flatmate every month before the UPC bill comes out (or visa versa)?
