Im thinking of taking up annual membership in Seapoint Golf club for the incoming year. Would love to hear the thoughts of any current member, full or annual, on the Pros and Cons of this type of membership. Im currently a full member of Navan Golf Club but I dont think Im going to renew for the coming season.
Thanks in advance for any help, thoughts or advice.

I'm in a similiar position and also thinking of joining as a 7 day member for the advertised €1500 a year. Just wondering if you went ahead and joined yet ? Any idea if this price will be reduced further in the new year ?

I think the €1500 is very good for a course the standard of seapoint, i just wish i could afford it myself:o

I cant see the price coming down this year they had plenty of people taking them up on the offer last year and id imagine even more will switch to them this year

No I havent joind yet. The main reason was that a friend of mine, who was also thinking of joining ,was told by one of the girls in the office that annual membership ran from August to August each year. That would mean 1500 now and another 1500 in august '11. She said that the if he joined now, ie last week , the 3 months of this year that he was missing would be taken from the cost of the August '11 fee. That seems a bit messy to me and it turned him off also.
I also heard that they were considering scrapping the annual membership and allowing full membership for a reduced fee on a limited basis. I cant confirm this is true but the chap who told me claimed this was on the cards. Their AGM was supposed to be last week but it probably didnt go ahead due to the weather.
The story doing the rounds last year was that the club was 2mil in the red due to the work done on the clubhouse and that was causing serious pressure on the committee to generate money to keep the place going.
I also heard from a member a year or so ago that there were a lot of members at that time who were trying to sell their share because they reckoned the club would go under. Im not saying any of this is fact, just telling you what I heard.
