So, basically you hook up your cable and you get cable tv and internet all rolled into one?
    Can these things record?
You can stream from your PC over WIFI?

I'd be pretty sure most of the streaming services are geographically restricted.

Sony also announced its NSX-GT1 line of LCD TVs with built in Google TV
The TVs range in size from 24-46 inches, in estimated selling price from $599 to $1,399.
Not sure if I could justify getting the TVs as this is surely just an early beta and would the tv stand the test of time?
The system seems to be set up for Netflix and the Dish network both of which are State side. I don't think it would integrate well with Sky etc yet and I am almost sure the TVs won't stream stuff around the house yet but maybe the Logitech Revue will do that. I was going to look at getting this but now I believe you would be much better off hooking up a PC to your HD TV and getting DLNA Certified devices around the house and Bobs your uncle. Almost the same as Google TV - maybe even better and more scalable.
Plus you can get your Android set up to control the PC etc too and I believe that the Desire HD is a DLNA Certified devices too.

Ya - and even a lot of the stuff in the US has been blocked on it too like Hulu, CBS, ABC and some other TV networks have blocked their online players on the system too.
I would think we will get very little here in Europe, Ireland probably be the last to get it too, for a few years to come.

Streaming your own content around the house is not one of the main features that I can see. It will find your content and bring it to the TV that Google is running on but it wont bounce it around the house to other TVs.
It wont record either - its just a box for aggregating all types of content and showing it on your main TV - thats what I can read into it anyway. You need a separate DVR like Sky + box

Anybody interested in Google TV (especially the idea of running apps and streaming content to your tv) should also check out boxee http://www.boxee.tv.

You can download and install it on your own hardware for free (windows, linux or mac os).

Or you can buy the boxee box (you can pre order now but they begin shipping next week I believe).

I have been running the software on a pc displaying the content on my TV for over a year now and I think its the business.

What kind of stuff can you stream on it in Ireland? Every time I try to look at the stuff it says nothing available for this area
