Brilliant Gas fireplace not lighting

I have a Brilliant gas fireplace (Romance 16in I think). I have not had it on for months and was giving it a quick go last week. There seems to be no gas flow from the fire. Sometimes I get a very small flame at the pilot but there seems to be no gas coming to catch the flame on the main body of he fireplace. Is this similar to having to bleed the rads? Is there a way to "bleed" gas fireplaces or is it not needed/I have a blockage (I took out all the blocks/coal effect pieces and gave the trough a sweep with a small brush)

There is no leak and I only normally use it very rarely for a quick blast of heat/decoration but was just wondering if anyone had any ideas.

    Thanks folks
