Paying a child care throught the books

    Morning all,
    I am looking to get a person to mind my child and want to put them " through the books" ie pay tax and prsi for them - do i have to set me self up as a sole trade or just register for payroll or what ???

    You'll find a form TR1 on www.revenue.ie Just fill in the front page and the bit about registering as an employer. Revenue will send you all the paperwork you need.

    You don't even to need to fill in from TR1 there is a PremReg from which you will find in revenue website if you go to :

    Taxes & Duties
    Income Tax
    Forms

    and it is the 2nd form listed

    You should read Revenue information leaflet IT38 "domestic employer scheme" as it will tell you all you need to know. Google should find it but, if not, let me know.

    I think the leaflet NCG is on about is actually IT53. But do have a read of it.

    Sorry, yes, it's IT53. I was filling out a form IT38 at the time.
