Jailbreaking...why do it?

    Genuine question here,just wondering what the benefits (and possible drawbacks) there are of jailbreaking an iphone?is it that theres other software/apps that can be used on a jailbroken phone?

    Coz the iPhone can be quite bland when not jailbroken. And I for one hate having to cow down to APPLE to do everything and anything. For a start the vanilla ringtones and sounds you get on the iPhone are pathetic TBH. And to customise any other tunezzzz you have to pay for them off iTunes. Yeah, okay they are only 70c or whatever but ffs why not give a few decent ones.

    There are MILLIONS of free apps (thank god) with jailbreaking but jailbreaking the phone just gives you a total black canvas to install and do what ever you like. Its really easy and TBH no real drawbacks. Not when I did my 3G anyway.....

    Cant wait to JB my iP4.

    I agree with Wonda-boy. I like to customize my Iphone wallpaper, lockscreen, fonts, dock, lock screen, themes and apps. With the unjailbroken phone it's just boring and why not you payed good money for it and its yours to do what you want. Theres lots of great free apps and usually there apps for stuff that Apple haven't put on the iPhone but you would like to see as standard. You have nothing too loose by jailbreaking and if you dont like it just restore your phone in iTunes!

    Just use somethin like www.audiko.net.

    They do tonnes of tunes all configured for the iphone as ringtones

    It actually says on that site mate that the iphone does not support the SMS ringtones anymore?

    Is that correct....have you used this recently?

    I've used audiko.. I save the file down to my pc then transfer it over with itunes.
