Hi Guys,

We're currently looking at expanding a Coast Guard Safety Education program on a pilot project. The project is looking at recruiting a volunteer "Education Officer" to contact schools and deliver a Coast Guard awareness and water safety program across North Dublin. A primary school program is already set up but open to improvements! We already have a very good relationship with schools but are looking to expand this.

Ideally someone who is experienced in education (from Grad to Retired), confident at presentations, motivated to deliver a program and expand its current scope. If someone had Water Sports experience it would be great but not essential. The role would start in Jan 2011 and would need commitment for 6 months. Full training would be provided and they would work alongside current volunteers at the beginning.

Still to be formally approved but the volunteer would be a non operational member of the Coast Guard meaning they would be attached to a Coast Guard station eg Howth but not expected to respond to emergency call outs. Living near a station would be an advantage.

The role is quite unique and involve working in a dynamic environment for the Coast Guard that embraces new ideas and technologies. It would involve min commitment of 1 day a week and would need transport to access schools. The role is as a volunteer but food and fuel expenses will be covered.
