Can anyone tell me of an internet site or other database thru which we can get some gigs in Dublin? I'm kinda clueless as to where to start, any advice would be sooooo helpful!

There are no gig swapping or advertising sites, best wat to do it is get in touch with some promoter like Dublin Underground, not even sure if they're still going, head down to the pint on eden quay, gypsy rose on aston quay, both fibbers and ask who books the bands, most important: HAVE A MYSPACE with a few recordings on it as when you get face to face with the people putting on the gigs they will ask, they'll milk your mates but you need those gigs to start off, then start renting venues yourself when you know you can rely on a few people coming to your gigs

Dublin Underground are great for starting off bands as they tend to give most people a shot. They will charge your friends at the door though and last time I was at one of their gigs it was €10 at the door.

As DerKaiser said, get a myspace with some semi-decent quality demos up. Hand demo CDs in to pubs, but also to fellow bands. Go to gigs of local bands, and get networking. Exchange phone numbers, get to know the local scene and support each other.

Oh, and finally, don't let people down (such as by not turning up to gigs) and do your fair share of the equipment sharing if needs be. A bad rep can spread very quick and you dont want to be bad-listed early on because your bass player ran off after your set with his bass amp or anything....
