    Guys,

I have my cv updated here, and am thinking of leaving a note* at the end saying i was travelling rtw between 2002 and 2003, is this ok?

I have quite a bit of work experience and qualifications and it maybe hard for people to follow my history.

    cheers. :)

Yeh I would put it on the CV, I was told by a recruitment lady before to give reasons why you left or why there are gaps in your CV i.e left to go travelling, maternity leave contract / contract basis etc...It shows that you were doing something...

I think you should definitely put it in, it shows you weren't just sitting on your bum.

It's an interesting thought, i think.

On one hand, it's none of their business where you were or what you were doing, but at the same time, you are trying to sell yourself. You could potentially leave it off, so that they have to ask you personally and you can tell as little or as much as you like. Though in doing that, you run a risk of being over-looked for appearing to have an incomplete CV.

I recall a piece of advice i received during an interview once. I'd done a number of different short contract jobs, and while that much was obvious, the guy asked me anyway, 'why are there so many short work periods?'. He'd guessed the answer already, but he said to me that, from his perspective, it was better to see it written that the job was a 'contract - 3 months from X to X'.

I guess the point i'm trying to make is, while they might guess you were travelling / holidaying / unemployed, it's your first impression sales pitch, and since you never get a second chance to make a first impression, you'd do better to give them the impression / image you want them to have.

That just some general cv advice there i know. My 2c, include it in your CV, but make it very concise. My own preference would be to leave it off the CV, and to mention it in your covering letter, and make it brief.

I got in put on now

I dont make too much of it, everyone goes travelling. most of the jobs I apply for are multicultural, employers would like people who have mixed it out with different cultures and work ethics.

Its just a line at the very end. I only have used it for job applications since yesterday.. should have put it down long ago i think

Under EU equality legislation it is illegal for them to discriminate against your application. You don't have to mention it in your CV though.

What do you mean? It's not illegal to not offer a job to someone because you didn't like that they went travelling.
