    Hi
I think I have a nasty virus on my computer, basically I keep getting popups telling me I have been infected by a trojan or somethingand I cant open any programs with a message appearing and telling me my computer is infected, then a scan automatically starts and when I try and start up windows explorer,it brings me to a site where It tries to sell me anti virus software. Also sometimes when I restart my computer in normal mode I dont get any popups or any warnings and everything seems fine

also I cant seem to get on the internet (Im currently using my 3 dongle) but whenever I plug in my eternet cable it wont connect, even though when I plug the ethernet cable into my sister laptop it works fine,it wont even connect in safe mode.

    please help
    thanks

A lot of anti malware sites recommend that you run rkill then malwarebytes. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic308364.html

This happened to me and I am currently repairing it.
'Windows Security Essential' warned me of a virus. I did some research and apparently that's part of the virus. It directs you to a list of fake anti-virus scans that further infect you, I believe.

Here's what I did. I scanned the whole computer with Malwarebytes and AVGfree until all threats were removed.
My laptop seemed normal until it kept freezing. Then it suddenly just wouldn't boot Windows anymore. I tried to start it in 'safe mode' but it hangs on a '.sys' file.

Here is an article to help: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/xprepair/thread/1bb2ac51-8b5c-4058-b835-408524ace776

It will only help if the "screen freezing thing" hasn't happened yet.
But it will remove the virus according to the users in the link.

if your running vista chances are that the blocked program is malwarebytes
