Speaker Questions

    Hi,

I have a relatively old Panasonic DVD surround sound system (SC-HT500), brought back out of storage. All of the tweeters connect into the hub subwoofer, which alone is connected to the system itself.

The problem I have is this: only one tweeter speaker seems to be working, while the rest don't. Occasionaly the one that works doesn't work, and the subwoofer itself plays a sort of muffled version of the sound.

Each connection between the 5 tweeters and the subwoofers have, on either end, one of those red/black connecting sockets, and each of them has been wired consistently with new speaker cable, with wires on either end well clear of insulation.

I have tried cleaning each of the connecting sockets with alcoholic wipes but that didn't help.

It would seem that the problem lies in the subwoofer itself, but can anyone suggest a way forward either with this or something else that might be causing the problem ?

    Thanks in advance,
    Richard

I cant be of help, sorry. Just thought I'd ask here instead of starting a new thread and was hoping you could help.
I have the same system but without the DVD player, so is it useless?
I dont have any way of connecting the subwoofer to the TV or anything else.
Is it possible to hook up the speakers in any way?
    Cheers.
