Very simple question: Do i need to get an official valuation from an estate agent or can i simply give my own valuation based on similar homes in the area?? obviously id like to keep the valuation as low as possible but is there a chance the revenue could deem a valuation unrealistic if i submitted a low one myself?

Can i just tell the solcitor the house is worth x amount of euro or do i need som e sort of official statement from an estate agent?

Are you an executor? If you are you might want to educate yourself on your responsibilities and the consequences of underpaying taxes / duties due to the Revenue from the estate or the beneficiaries.

You will need a written valuation report from a auctioneer-valuer / estate agent.
