    Hi there,

I don't know anything about those guys I'm afraid but if you are looking for a Kenpo Club on the northside I'd recommend either Castleknock Kenpo Club, run by Julian McDermott, 5th Degree or DCU Kenpo Club, run by Damian Kearney. All the details can be found on www.kenpokarate.ie
If you want to join this club specifically then maybe someone else on here can help you.

    Regards

i know martin . he is 1 of there instructors . they practice modern kenpo and are of the ed downey or paddy kennedy family tree . they do adult classes . drop up and have a chat with them even at the times of 1 of the childern classes and they can put u in the right direction .

the emails and web site could have been run by a member long gone or somthing . i know in another club im in the web site was set up and run by a member who left and took the web site with him . not sayin that sthe case here .

    hope this helps

Why not try Glasnevin Kenpo Karate club based in St Vincents CBS. It is run by Paul Brennan, one of the top instructors in the country. Check out http://ikku.ie/

cheers for the advise guys :)

just wondering, whats the difference between regular and modern kempo and how do you find kempo as a form of self defense in real life terms?

i did both styles . traditional is a long based stlye and in my opinion is not great for selfdefence . modern on the other hand is a gud self defence style . it has a taught process behind the why . and can be and is incouraged to break techniques up and put them together .

in the real world everything doesnt happen the way it does in practice .

most practitioneers out there at the moment would be of modern background .

modern kenpo . american kenpo . ed parkers kenpo .are all the same thing with different names .

i think the modern style sounds good, i was originally looking into takwando and just kinda figured that flying kicks etc seemed less practical so i looked more into kempo as a delf defense martial arts
