Gas pedal too high on Opel Corsa?

Have a 2001 1.0L Opel Corsa I'm trying out for a few days..

It's quite a smooth and comfy drive (pedals are far more responsive than my VW Polo), but the one thing I'm finding a trial is that the gas pedal seems quite high. I can't comfortably pivot my foot up off it when changing gears so I end up hovering, and doesn't feel safe in the slightest.

Is this norm in Corsa's, or is there any solution to this?

You used to be able to get pedal extensions but I havent seen them in ages.
    Cheers for that...

.. I'm not sure whether it's that the pedals are too high, or the fact they appear to be positioned "more vertically" than the Polo pedals.. if ya not what I mean.

I've been told I'll get used to it, but it's just not comfortable. I've been driving it since Saturday and I like the car.. but that pedal is a trial.
