Conan O'Brien's New Show On 3e

Delighted to see in the listings that 3e are going to broadcast Conan's new talk show a week after it's been broadcast from the 15th November at 12midnight.

Was kind of worried that no-one will show this, seeing CNBC only show Jay Leno, and of course Conan has moved to a different network.

Lets hope it does well and doesn't fall off the listings like Jimmy Kimmell did last year.

    Great news!:)

I wonder will they be showing it each night and what the broadcast delay will be?

Any info on repeats. I'd love to watch it

Conan starts in America next Monday - so a weeks delay isn't too bad.I'd say it'll be on every night Mon - Thurs. He's only doing 4 nights a week show now.

I'm hoping that they are just starting a week late but will be airing the previous night's show.

I really wish they showed Letterman over here.

It's a shame if it's going to be broadcast a week late.

It's not like they need to fly a video tape over.

Still, it's a good acquisition by 3e. Conan should do better here than Jimmy Kimmel

If they're showing it a week late when why is it on so late? Past my fecking bed time.

I know. In the days of the interwebz you'd imagine we would at least get the previous day's show rather than have to wait a week.

What!? I thought they sent it by boat and then bicycle courier!
Looking forward to this though, should be good.. I hope! :)

Pity it's a week later. More 4 can get The Daily Show less than a day later, why can't 3e/some other channel do similar?

Jesus lads it's only a week big deal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,899 ✭✭✭grimm2005

The week delay is a slight dissapointment sure, but i'm absolutly delighted to hear they'll be showing it over here. So does this mean it'll start airing Monday 15th?

Edit: Sorry, just read the date in the OP's post!

Here's a link to the opening sketch for Conan's comeback show

The first episode is on 3e at midnight next Monday, only a week late as stated above

Jesus lads it's only a week big deal.

It kind of is though. It's topical chat show that has a very short shelf-life each day and a week out of date is too much really.

I dunno, I think most of Conan's appeal is in his sketches or pre-taped bits that usually have nothing to do with current affairs and are still funny today, and the guests are usually promoting tv shows and movies that havn't started airing or have been released here yet anyway.
The only area where it may seem dated is the monologue, and tbh 1 week certainly isn't an age.
A next day airing like the tonight show would obviously be preferable to a week but I can't see it ruining the show or anything.

Enjoyed the first episode, glad to have him back:D

I enjoyed the show, what I especially liked was that after the cold open and first few minutes of the monologue it felt like just any old episode of Conan. I always enjoy dipping into an episode of Conan, it's not the type of show that you have to watch every episode, more the type of show that is there when you need it.

Nevertheless I'll be watching tonight, and tomorrow and Thursday!

In this day and age a week is far too long a delay for a scripted show, let alone a topical comedy show.

As someone said above, More 4 can do The Daily Show under 24 hours later which is perfect.

It's either on the following day or it's off to the intertube in our home.

On the show, first couple of episodes weren't too bad, Tom Hanks was a good sport again, pretty much just Conan's Tonight Show carried over so far. Hopefully Late Night can creep back in a bit. Also needs more LaBamba.

Love Conan, pity about 3E being without NICAM sound on Dublin UPC analogue.

Is there ANY chance this will get an airing during the night sometime on tv3 ever?

I watched the first episode last night. Conan is still as funny as ever. It is great to have him back.

Wonder was Tom expecting that :P

1st rigged guest was cool in the first show. :D

sorry to ressurect an old thread, but does anyone know if/when Conan will be returning to 3e? The schedules next week on Sky have poker in his time slot (which i presume means they at best won't be showing his shows from this week)

IDK I'm getting it from the magic fairies, but it sounds like the Kimmel situation may have happened on 3e and it's been pulled from the schedule. It was definitely on last week in the US, so it should be airing on 3e this week unless they changed it up for crimbo.

Is Conan on over the Christmas holidays in America though? That might be the reason they're having a break too on 3e.

I'm certain it was on last week and since there is a 1 week delay it should be on in Ireland this week. I'm almost positive it is not on this week in the US

There were new episodes until last night in the US, think they are off next week though.

11:15? But that's going to cut into the endless repeats of that one Season of Family Guy 3e seem to have bought! Noooooo!

The new series of Family Guy is on just before it.

yeah it looks like they have moved it half an hour earlier than last year - meaning the schedule looks like:
    10pm Family Guy repeats
10.30 New Family Guy/Cleveland/American Dad etc
11.00 Repeats Of New FG/Cleveland/ AD shown next day.
    11:30 Conan

Would have prefered Conan a bit earlier - even getting rid of the 10pm Family Guy. But it's good they haven't axed it so soon.

ah phew, woulda been very sh!tty of em to axe it so soon

I just went to watch a recording of it there, but there was just House and Law and Order on it, instead of Conan.

Has it been taken off 3e?

Conan did indeed return to 3e this week ... but it is now 4 weeks behind. I mean what the bloody hell?! Last nights episode aired on December 23rd.

...And they have the cheek to have 'All New' below the 3e logo.

It better catch up because most of the jokes/sketches don't have the same impact a month later:mad:

Yeah it is utterly ridiculous. They should just skip ahead to the most up to date show.

3e's coverage of Conan is truly lamentable:(

As said before they are 4 weeks behind but also randomly they throw in an episode at least once a week that they have aired already!? Who the feck is in charge of their scheduling? It's really pissing me off.

4 weeks is a massive exaggeration. It was 1 week behind before xmas, and 2 weeks now at the moment.

And Conan only airs 4 times a week in America,so 3e show them Mon-Thurs at 11:30, with a repeat of one or two of the shows on Friday/Sat/Sun night. There really is nothing strange with the scheduling of that.

Better than not having Conan at all.

    Yep. Yes. And yeah.

If they were only a day behind with episodes, we'd have to deal with unnecessary delays all the time. And the episodes are nowhere near 4 week late.

anyone know what the name of the song is in the advert promoting the conan show on 3e is?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,899 ✭✭✭grimm2005

Since they're 2 weeks behind after christmas they should use those 2/3 extra shows a week to catch up
