Buying a car

In SA at the moment looking for harvest work which is very slow in coming due to delayed season. Really need a car to be able to get around and relieve the total boredom, and also find work.

Reading the LP it sounds complicated to buy a second hand car from a private dealer. Is it really? Anyone have any experience buying a car? How much does it cost to register a car in your name? Could we get a reliable second hand car for under 1k? We're in the middle of nowhere with no internet except via my phone so it's excruciatingly difficult to research... Cheers.

you would be lucky to get something decent for under 1k. the registration process isnt as bad as it appears. do you need a RWC for SA? WA dont require one so that makes buying a car cheaper and easier.
