I took ownership if the sisters car. I have paid for my insurance and was told by the insurance company i would be insured since last friday. i have not driven the car since.

anyway long story short i dont have an insurance disc displaying my insurance.

should i wait to get the disc. and if not what should i have to prove my insurance. all i got in the post today was a declaration i have to sign and send back with driving experience.

    Hi,
I was stopped a while ago in a similar situation, had not got tax or insurance updated; was over 1 month out of date. Explained to guard that I had just bought the car and was waiting for the paperwork.
On the previous thread mentioned below there was some mention of having 10 days grace; I can't recall for certain, but have a search on here.

By the law you don't need to display insurance disc for first 10 days after obtaining cover.
If you want to see the proper SI from statute book, just search on this forum. It was here less then a week ago.
