Ford Focus 1.4 Freedom

    Hi

Have a 02 ford focus freedom 1.4 3 door with a few issues.

Heater fan has stopped working. It initially started as two of the speeds stopped working, and now the four speeds don't work. I've taken out the switch and tried jumping the cables across each other to see if I could do anything, but not a gig.

    Any Suggestions?

Also, the Car is idling too high. Sometimes the car will idle at about 1500 rpm, sometimes at about 1000, and sometimes at 850 where it should be. What is causing this and how I cure it?

    Many Thanks

It could need a new heater resistor pack, there common enough to give trouble on the focus's. The idle problem could be related to a vacuum leak or a faulty / dirty sensor like the trottle sensor or idle valve (both to right of manifold). I don't think there is an airflow sensor on that model (black square box on air hose).

Changed the resistor pack but it made no difference, so I'm thinking either switch or fan. Does the freedom have an idle control valve?

Yes it does, here's a pic. Located on the front right of manifold. There are 2 10mm nuts holding it on and just unplug it from the multiplug.
