There are so many fake GHDs out there, here's a brief overview of how to make sure you dont get a fake..

Try not to buy from anywhere but a salon - then at least you will have a warranty/receipt/garauntee.

If you are considering an eBay purchase, if the GHD is coming from Hong Kong, China, etc, dont even consider it, most fakes are made abroad.
If someone is selling one as a genuine GHD, ask the seller if they have the original receipt, and ask for the hologram code.
Statements in the seller's auction of 'genuine product', 'holograms and security seals' do not guarantee the authenticity of the item.

They can be virtually impossible to tell, but here are some tips:

Only buy from salon retailers, and GHD approved online retailers.
If you find a website that SEEMS genuine, it may not be, it can carry all the GHD logos and graphics, but before buying, visit the REAL GHD website, and use their online website checker, you can check a website and they will tell you if its one of their partners or not:

    http://website-checker.ghdhair.com/counterfeit

Also remember if something seems too good to be true, it probably is, so don't buy.
    • Look for clear signs that you are buying from a reputable company:- Do they have a registered address in the UK/Ireland?
      - Do they have a UK/Irish telephone number?
    • Does the website look secure?- Does the web address contain https:// or a golden padlock?
    • Do they have clear privacy and returns policies?
    • Do some detective work - call them, search online to see if other customers have left reviews or comments about the company.
Fake GHD's can work well for a while, but ultimately will not function well for very long, have no warranty/garauntee, and can be potentially dangerous.
