    Hi All,
This is my first thread on this forum so any feedback is most welcome.
I'm looking to buy a HRM mainly for triathlon use, so comfort and ease of use is No.1 followed by value.
I'm thinking of polar or garmin.
Also, I'm going to New York in 2 weeks so should I buy one there. Can anyone recommend a shop in NY or should I buy online here?

Hi nophd08 as many will testify, the Garmin forerunners are solid GPS watches, but are not great heart rate monitors. If HRMs are what you're looking for (rather than GPS activity tracking) I'd go with one of the well-known cheaper HRM -only products, like a Polar.

USD exchange rate is good at the moment. Pity you're not there this weekend as the NY marathon expo is on. Check out the prices before you head over, and see if you can pick up a bargain.

I agree if its Heart Rate I would go with polar,if for some reason you want gps don't go with polar.
I find timex can be very cheap in the states and their hear rate is very good also.

iBOOD have an Oregon Scientific heart rate monitor on offer today (2nd) for €29.95, claimed to be reduced from €59.95. Their offers change daily so will be something else tomorrow.

I bought an oregon scientific HRM from iBood a few months ago - lasted about 3 months before it died. Brought it to jeweller who replaced battery, lasted another 3 days and dead again. I think this is more a reflection on iBood than oregon scientific

Much to the same topic, anybody know where is the best place to buy a polar HRM online? (just the belt without the watch)

I bought a polar HRM on wiggle.co.uk recently. I am new to this whole area but have been building up to running 10k over the last year. I put in the required info like weight, height, age etc and off I went. It tells me my limits are 120 - 160 but I found that I was consistently in the 170 -180 range during my run. If I was to stay at 120 - 160 range I would be crawling. Any advice?
