Hyundai Coupe Mk 1 gear change

Test drove a dark green one of these today and was pleasantly surprised in general.
Had been looking at Mazda 323s so this would be a slightly more interesting option since the tax, insurance and purchase price are very similar.

One thing I wasn't fond of was the gear change. Seemed a bit loose to me, made my current 98 Ibiza feel like loading a rifle in comparison.

I've heard the gear change is a bit poor on these. Has anyone else noticed this on them? Or is this one a bit dodgy?

Seems to be a common trait of the Coupe. If you do decide to purchase, there's a DIY for a short shift here.

Nice one, I'll consider that if I buy one.

One other thing I noticed was some rust visible on the suspension mounts in the engine bay.
Could this be a big problem?
