No Picture, or sound ... or signal

I'm not getting any picture on this new Radio Eireann television thing.
No sound either. In fact I'd say I'm not getting any kind of a signal.

Do I need to download one of those MPack4 apps?

The fella in Cash's in Cork that sold it to my Dad a while ago said it was Satellite Ready like all these new Salora TVs so we pointed the TV out the window and showed it Mullaganish back along but no joy.

Maybe it was a bit misty (but then it always is in Ballyvourney) and it couldn't see it properly so we'll try again when it stops raining in February.

"Satellite ready"* is irrelevent to Saorview which is Terrestrial.

    Model of TV?

*Sounds like snake oil. Either a TV has a Satellite tuner or not. If so, that works with a Dish and LNBF.
You can't sensibly add MPEG4 HD to any TV, other than using it as a simple screen on a complete HD setbox.

Yeah don't feed him. We had another Troll who was the cause of getting a Thread locked in satellite forum yesterday.

Ah now! calling me a troll is a bit OTT, no?
I was just getting a bit hacked off at all the "I get sound but no picture......Help Me!" postings from folk who won't read read earlier posts or do a search.
So I did a bit of light humour...... can't believe nobody remembers those chancers who flogged Salora TV's as "satellite ready" just 'cos they had a SCART socket....
    oh well....

I thought watty's "sarcasm detector" was a bit more finely tuned:D

I too, am getting pretty peeved at the posters who want to be spoon fed the answers without doing the minimum of research in the stickies etc. Fair play to watty for continuing to educate the masses. I don't know where he finds the time to respond to all the basic queries that have sprung up since Friday since the "launch" of Saorview.

    It's worn out.

Seriously Watty, we do appreciate your tireless and patient responses to the queries on this forum - personally I would have lost it by now with so many of the same questions day after day. And to think these are from people who are savvy enough to know how to find the forum and to post a question - it boggles the mind to imagine how many people can't even do this and are at the mercy of every Sky 'engineer' who has a ladder, a few rolls of TV coax and some recycled F connectors.

Or read the many, many threads stating the exact same problems as them
