Commercial or Domestic Package ?

    Hi all ,

I look after quite a large AV contract in a hospital, I get in a company to deal with most of my satellite works as I would not think my knowledge of satellite systems would be at a high enough level at this moment and time, but it something I am getting trained up on.

My question is this , I am thinking of donating a Sky package to go onto the headend and was wondering would I need to get a commercial or domestic subscription ?

The donation has nothing to do with gaining contracts or anything like that , as I am only a few months into a 3 year contract , its more so to do with the patients, I want to give something back and would love to be able to offer them sports to break up there nights or a movie channel or something of the sorts, some of them are in here long term and I have gotten to know some quite well.

I would only be putting one box in and I would be able to change the channel Via a slingbox or some sort of setup like that.

The doctors lounge currently has a SKY TV sub but they pay for it themselves every month

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    It's commercial.

There are plenty of decent FTA channels. Over 87% of people's viewing is actually FTA TV (including the four Irish channels).

What are you doing about the Digital Changeover (service now live), Full launch Spring 2011 and Analogue Switch off October 2012?

    Cheers for that WATTY,

We are installing new Kathrein AOS 65 Wideband UHF Aerial,

Getting two new modules with dual cards for the headend that will take video/audio input as opposed to the aerial feed they take at the moment.

And 4 Triax TR110 set top boxs to feed the new modules on the Polytron SPM 1000 Digi., if Polytron can provide the new modules with the MPEG4 tunners in built I might go with that.

Also all of the TV's that we have installed all have MPEG4 tuners , my installer has recommended we run this signal through the system so that they can pick up these stations independents of the head end system .

We plan to do these works in January

Despite what Triax claim the TR110 is NOT suitable. You will be left with blank video and/or no audio.

You need minumum of MPEG4 HD and AAC stereo, MHEG5 seriously recommended.
Most "Freeview HD" and all Saorview is suitable. See
