    Hi Guys,

Just wanted to tell you about a great time I had last week. I stumbled upon the Donnington Park grand prix collection museum online, here http://www.donington-park.co.uk/pages/motorsport-museum.html

I was immediately very interested in seeing this so looked into it.

Basically, I got a flight to east midlands for €40 incl taxes. Left Dublin at 08:00. Arrived at 09:00. Had breakfast in the airport and then headed to the museum, which opens at 10. Its a 5 minute taxi ride £6.00 or a short bus journey. On arrival, I paid my admission and got to see some of the most amazing cars that I grew up watching. The Williams FW17, 1999 Mclaren, 94 Williams, 92 Williams, 93 Williams, Jordan 191, Daemon Hills actual Jordan 198 that he won Jordans first race in. So many cars.

I then had lunch, I heading into the circuit. Entry was free on the Friday. It was a practice day for that weekends bike races. Could go ANYWHERE. Was in the pit lane, pit wall. Really great. Fantastic day. Recommend to all here

I then stayed in the Holiday Inn next door and got a flight back the next morning.

I have some public pics on facebook http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=79983&id=1661353395&saved

I should have gotten a flight back that evening at 17:00. Dont know what I was thinking when I booked.

    Cheap and good day out

Trust me. Its a must for anyone with even a passing interest in F1. Reckon you could do the trip, incl parking at dublin airport, flights, taxi to and from airport to race track, admission and lunch for less than €100. Not bad

Donnington park is an awesome place I've been several times to the MotoGP and it's like Disney land for race lovers, as for the museum there's some sweet stuff on show and a must for anyone.

Was over for the Renault World Series a few years ago. Great place, and the museum is amazing.
Cheap flights, free tickets to the track, and cheap hotel a few miles away. Great weekend.

+1 for the Donington museum. It is just feckin deadly. Called in there for a few hours a couple of years ago while on a road trip bringing a car back from Hampshire. That was a good day :D

Oh and forgot to ask: what state is the track in now? Have they just stopped on the redevelopment altogether and just put it back to the condition it was in?

Not sure on the actual layouts, whether they put it back to the layout it was before or not, put the track seems to be in great condition. You can see mountains of dirt around the track, but the track seems to be fresh in alot of spots
