Mobile Phone Dependency

I never considered myself to be dependent on my mobile phone until this weekend that is. Being without it messed up my entire weekend!

So the story begins on Friday night, when at a halloween party with a pocketless costume I give my phone to my friends OH to put in her bag. Anyway as you've probably guessed by now she went home with the phone and this is were the weekend starts to go downhill.

Having previously arranged a lift with a taxi driver friend I went to take my phone out and realised I didn't have it. No big deal, fine I got another taxi home. Got home and realised she also had my key!! Flat mate wasn't there so I thought ok I'll sleep in my car, only she had those f**king keys too.

So I slept outside and went inside to pack my stuff when my flatmate arrived home (moving apartments at the moment). So spent a while packing stuff and packed up my flatmates rental car. Drove across to the other side of the city only to find that my soon to be new flatmate wasn't there. I didn't have my phone still to call him first and my current flatmate having just moved to Ireland has no phone either so couldn't check in first to see if he was there.

My other friend who's gf has the phone wasn't there either when I called to his place. So last night I was due to go on a date only to realise I didn't have the girls number to call her to make arrangements. Which takes me to today. Not having my phone means I can't get in touch with anyone to make plans for tonight!!!! So here I am ranting on boards! Is anyone else as dependent as I on their phone???

Ah, if only it were so simple. My apartment unfortunately doesn't have a landline so I had no choice. I'd call a friend to use their landline but......

Problem with this is a dependency on the mobile for numbers. I can only think of 3 numbers off the top of my head that i know!

How would the internet help me get in touch with my flkatmate at 3:30 am on a Saturday morning? I couldn't even get into my apartment ffs. Also how would it help me to get in touch with a girl I met a week ago and know zero about apart from her number which is stored on my phone.

That's presuming I've already saved numbers onto my account or else have them saved somewhere else. I didn't (perhaps silly in hindsight).
