HP Printer problem

Not sure if this is in the right section or not, but i bought a HP printer on Friday for college work and i'm having a few problems with it. Its the F2480 model so nothing special. I've followed all the little diagrams for the instructions, but it doesn't seem to want to print the test page which it supposedly does automatically when the cartridges are inserted. Then the HP program on my laptop says that the cartridges are incompatible with that model printer but yet they are the ones recommended by HP and came in the box. The cartridges are the HP300 variant. The 3 small lights on the printer are continuously blinking too.

Anyone any suggestions of what i might be doing wrong?

    Thanks.

Did you remove the little protective strip from the cartridges before inserting them into the printer.

Could be a dodgy printer or cartridge then.
You should probably return it and get a replacement. As yu have just bought it, don't let them send it for repair. Depending on where you bought it, you may have a cooling off period where you can return it for a full refund - if so, don't accept an offer of a repair.
