What would people think of this? Whereby the top clubs from the top counties would play in the Top division, much the like the european format, I think it would bring a lot of emphasis back onto the club and considering there might be 2/3 good teams in a county it almost seems a little unfair that only one can go on each year to bigger things. If this was to work, how would it work? It wouldnt work every year but maybe every 2/3/4 years? How would it conflict with intercounty games?

and you mean get rid of county championships? Nah wouldnt think it would work, the current system is the best. Plus how do you define a ''Top club''? just because a club has won 25 county championships dosent mean their current team is any use..

Sounds like it would take away from county championships really. The county final is the holy grail. Much more enjoyable to beat your neighbouring parish than a club 50 miles away.

the county would never be done away with and the frequency would hopefully keep the importance of the county title i.e every 2/3/4 years and not every year, as for judging the top club, very hard to say since it is championship based, maybe one way would be if it was every 3 years then the 3 champions would go through(if theyre different) but this leads to the problem of a team good in the first year and dire in the 3rd. Not an easy one lads just throwin it out there

Completely pointless. Takes away the glory of being a County Champion. It would mean lesser teams have even less of a chance of silverware. It wouldn't work.

If it was to work. All county champions get put in an open draw until we get two winning teams to challenge for an All-Ireland champion, which would probably be one of the usual teams (Nemo,Crossmaglen etc in football and Portumna, Ballyhale, Dunly etc in hurling)

The fixture calendar is already stretched to breaking point and county championships already get thrown into chaos by inter coiunty fixtures everySummer. Add in underage games, the fact that lots of lads play both football and hurling for the club, the better ones play minor and U-21 for the county as well as the Fitzgibbon and Sigerson Cups, lads playin for their schools etc etc? What good will adding more game to the calendar do? The GAA should be streamlining count championships to minimise disruption not further clogging up the fixture list just because it might be "cool" to mimic a competition thats successful in soccer.

Your totally right but in an ideal world you would hope it would bring more focus onto the club, raise the profile a bit and maybe take some of the glamour away from intercounty.

I would be more receptive to an open draw, particularily in the hurling where the Galway and Kilkenny Clubs will always have an easier route to an All Ireland than the munster clubs, but thats an age old debate isnt it..
