I just failed my Nct because my LHD Audi tt headlights are blinding the oncoming traffic when dipped rather than away from the oncoming traffic??

Anyway I now have 28 days to get it sorted, has anyone ever had this problem? I really need advice on how to go about getting it sorted or if someone knows of a garage where they've had it done, any advise would be great as I am at a loss as to where to go from here Thanks :o

Really depends on your lights, some modern ones can be changed/re-set, older ones need to be swapped altogether.

Best case scenario ...check your manual, there might be an adjustment procedure mentioned in there

Secend best scenario ...talk to your Audi dealer, perhaps there is a cheap-ish change over procedure

Least best scenario ...rip out your lights, replace with RHD ones

Thanks for the reply, I just checked the Manual and there is a section entitled "driving abroad" and according to that I can do it, but it involves removing battery covers and panels so am going to take it to the Audi service garage during the week and get them to do it, thanks again for your help I wasn't even sure what the guy was talking about so I was at a complete loss, I understand it totally now and at least I know where to start, thanks again.

The versions with xenon lights have levers to change them over. If you have the xenons, anyone with a couple of screwdrivers should do it for you. If you have the normal lights, you might have to swap out the 2 units.

I wonder if these would do the job?

I was using them this summer and you put them one way for RHD and opposite way for LHD.

They are temporary. The OP should have changed the headlights a lot sooner than waiting for an NCT to spot them so let him bring it to a professional to do it rather than blinding anymore road users.

Did you not realise that we drive on the left before you came back to Ireland....
I'm sure some local garage could source some s/h RHD lamps for you rather than going to a main dealer...;)

The other issue of course is that you can't see sh!t with dipped lights pointing the wrong way ...beam benders don't really help there either.

Next time you get the ferry over to mainland europe, can you tell all the English,Irish, Welsh and Scottish people that. I haven't seen one of them ever with beambenders.

I just used a bit of tape to cover the left tail that blinds the oncoming drivers. Beam benders will just reverse the tail and point it at the opposite side.

Thanks for all the comments, I took it to the garage as it was due it's yearly service anyway, there are levers which can be used to changed the direction of the headlights, anyway have taken it back to the NCT and it passed, only problem now my indicators don't blink they stay on solid when I use them, plus I was told I needed two new tyres, surprised they didn't tell me this when I had the Nct done???? always a story......thanks again
