Manufacturers websites

Why are nearly all the main manufacturers websites so rubbish?

    They are

    either

full of fancy movies that take ages to download

    or

    Devoid of any information whatsoever

    or

    both!

I've been trying to buy a EcoWhateverBlueFlexGreen car and do you think that I can find anything on the websites? Can I, bu99ery!

You'd think they'd be promoting these cars, with their low tax and VRT! But, NO, they are playing stupid marketing movies!

Pah. I'm going to the UK - Mightn't be any cheaper, but it is a lot less hassle.

    Stupid people.

    Rant over.

A lot of the cars you're looking at have been tweaked for tI'd tougher bottom bracket of the uk system and have no benefit for irish drivers as the threshold is higher.

For specs the new car section on carzone is good.
Uk ultra low emissions cars will work out very expensive once you get them over here.
Also you can't do scrappage on an import - don't know if this is an issue

Sounds like you need a better internet connection :-)

I've heard the logic that distributors won't put the full information online as they want to encourage punters to go into the showroom to get the info.

I've never agreed with it myself.

    AFAIK you can.

To my knowledge you can technically source a new car abroad, buy it unregistered, import it and register it. In reality its practically impossible to do this.

Any new car I have experience of importing from the uk was on uk new plates. Not a problem for registering new here but I'm certain this doesn't let you use the scrappage scheme.
