Does anyone know of a simple way of tracking down an old family car that my father used to have?

Nothing too exciting but I've always wanted to buy 2 of them back

    One was a 1990 Renault 19 Chamade diesel 90 TN 584 and the other was a Diesel Mazda 323 92 TN 409

The registration office in Shannon might be able tell you if the cars have been scrapped or not but data protection laws would prevent them telling you the last owner's details.

I'm inclined to agree both cars had over 80k miles after two years of ownership (Dad was the first owner on both). I know however both were on the road for a long time after so was hoping the may live out their somewhere

paying one of motorcheck, cartell or the third site who's name escapes me will let you find out when they were last taxed for starters. If its more than a year ago, they're probably scrapped.

Do you know the exact date of first registration? If you do then you can get some clues from the NCT online booking system.

As already stated it is highly unlikely that they are still around. I'd say more than 99% of 1990 R19s and 1992 323s have been scrapped. Even if they were a few years younger (say 1998) it'd be unlikely that they had escaped the scrapman

I have seen one phase 1 R19 on the road in the last year, they are so uncommon that I noted the reg, 90 CN 121.

As already posted - Motorcheck.ie will tell you most of what you want to know, but you pay for the pleasure.

Only found out last week that our 1990 Renault 21 was crapped. What a machine.

    Thanks for that Sean.

I'd imagine the Chamde is sadly stuck decaying in a ditch somewhere alright

It was a very good car at the time but sadly I've not seen it for some time now.
