No sound from DVD

    I tried using my DVD player this afternoon and there is no sound.

    Does anyone have an idea why this would be happening?

    Is this the first time using it?
    Has it worked before?
    Was anything moved recently?
    Was it properly connected?

    Was the volume up?

    I have it a couple of years and it's always worked fine for me.

    It wasn't moved and I assume it's properly connected - I will check now though.

    The volume was up, I was watching television before I switched on the DVD player.
