Leading on from the thread about comapny branding a car, I've heard instances where people have just been given a company branded car for free...

My gf sent her old Astra to the scrapyard recently and has since been loking for a replacement. Do you reckon it would be at all plausable to get a "free" company branded car?

I've tried google but to no avail

I would assume this would fall under BIK (Benefit in Kind) which means you'd have to pay the tax on the depreciation of the car.

Paying to put a logo on a car is different as that covers the wear and tear of the car while being used for business purposes.

were any of these people employee's of the company branded car ?

(not trying to be smart - I don't think there are too many companies out there who give away cars for people to drive around for free - even during the good times.)

My uncle had a company branded car of which he had no affiliation with, that's the main reason I asked...

Never, ever heard of someone getting a car other than from their own employers.

I've a "free" (BIK payable) branded car outside; but I'm also a field engineer for the company plastered all over it...

Of course he did  Bit strange how you are questioning is it plausible then throw out the "fact" your uncle had one when folks tell you it is an absurd idea. Why give someone a car when you can get a taxi emblazoned with the company logo etc for small enough money.

I know a lad who had a Coca Cola Berlingo, he was no way affiliated to Coca Cola but was a tight bastad and bought it like that on the cheap.
