newbie in PA/Djing world and need your recommendations in my first speaker setup please.. budget up to 800e, active or passive, ive read about the mackie thumps and they fit the budget, would you recommend them?

or if i start with a passive setup (Wharfedale's EVPX15), what combinations would you recommend (amp+speakers)?

    thank you :)

Few people on here will recommend Yamaha HS50s, others will recommend KRK rockits. Both good monitors. I've the Hs50s and they're great.

those mackies are pretty nice but it is fairly hard to get parts for them in Ireland if anything goes wrong!

the obvious advantages of active speakers are that it takes less time to set up, you have less gear to carry and less cables, advantages of passive speakers would be that if your amp goes you can just swap it out for a new one and they are a good bit cheaper

I have both passive and active set-ups and I must say I do love the active for the convenience alone!

its worth having a look at some of the thomann own brand stuff

these fellas - THE BOX PA502 A are very good speakers, some people might turn their nose up at the box gear but I know plenty of DJs and bands that swear by these fellas, I have a The Box passive PA and over the last 2 years it has never failed me once, great speakers if you are on the road alot!

    RCF Active range.

they are absolute class! $500 a piece for the 12" wans at the moment aswell! if you are offering top quality service (e.g. going for the high end wedding market and that) these are definitely worth the investment!

    thats them ya!

some times thomann don't pass on the offers that the manufacturers are offering, some stores in the UK sell those RCFs so do a bit of googling and see what you come up with!
