Hi Folks, Forgive me if this has been asked a thousend times but i must ask again....

I have just got my first penality points. I am very sad but such is life. Anyway

I was driving the wifes car. I am named on my wifes policy(Axa Insurence)

I am also a policy holder of my own(Quinn Direct)

Does any know if i have to notify both insurence companies or just one. Does anyone know as these are my first points do i have to notify for 2 points.

Just in case is there a way to make sure you dont have more(This bit is just out of curiosity as the mistake was made so easy to inherit the first 2)

    Thank you in advance

AFAIK you must notify your ins company as soon as you get any points on your licence.

Although wait till the points are actually applied to your licence , i.e. dont ring them as soon as the gard pulls you over

hey you have to notify your wifes and your own insurance company but i shouldnt effect the premium or anything like that.
dont notify them but until you actually get a letter in the door stating that you have the points because they can take months to go on and a lot of times they never actually go on your licence. once you get them after 3 yrs you will get a letter stating there gone.
you can check with rsa to see if you have penalty polints their number is 1890 41 61 41 ring and give you driving licence number alternatively go onto their website for more info rsa.ie

The points go on your licence so you should notify both Insurance Companies, they don't take much notice or apply any loadings until you accrue over 6 in general
