Think DSD looking pretty strong for the team title tomorrow - Brendan O'Neill after his Gerry Farnan win and Joe Sweeney had a good run in Rathfarnham - can't rule out Peter Mathews either especially if it turns out to be a muddy course

Clonliffe are without Sergio and Brian McMahon in recovery after the marathon - Mark Kinnealy could be their knight in shining armour after running 48mins for 10miles last weekend, but maybe won't run with his sights firmly set on Portugal... they might drum up some reinforcements though from their foreign legion - or do they hold out on that special move untill the Nationals?

The old reliables Mick Clohissy and Mark Kirwan will form the nucleus of the Raheny charge - perhaps with Vinny Mulvey returning after injury
??Killian O'Leary also in the picture and a pretty deep squad will mean Raheny will be at an advantage with 6 to score. Rathfarnham may also be the dark horses of this years champs with a good solid team - Eoin Flynn their first man home n the Gerry Farnan, and any number of people could fill the last 5 places such is the depth of their squad.

If Kennealy runs it would be difficult not to back him for the title - but Joe Sweeney may prove tough to beat - although he may not be race hardenend enough yet to challenge as he may do in Derry in a few weeks time. His team mate Brendan O'Neill looked so good in Gerry Farnan he can't be written off and Sean Connoly and John Coughlan will also be major contenders.

Going to be a great race - Santry 3pm Sunday 31st October

Id say Raheny and Rathfarnam will battle out the title.Dsd usually a couple short. How can you say Matthews might be a force if its muddy?
Kenneally won't be running having looked at Clonliffe website.
Joe Sweeney will probably win the title.

Yeah how can you say that Peter Matthews will be a force if the course is muddy? His achievements in the mud haven't been great. Sure his previous best performance on a muddy course is only 21st in the World Cross Country Championships!

Personally, I'd put my money on Brendan from DSD who won the Gerry Farnan. If you can win a race like that which only attracts the highest calibre athletes, you can win anything!

Lucky you didn't have money on that! Putting your money on the wrong person 2 hours after the race is run and five minutes after the results are posted isn't the best betting practice.

Well to put the issue to rest Peter Mathews came in 10th on a relatively muddy course..Great run for him today after a poor start to the season by his standards at Gerry Farnan. DSD had a good team win - but might be a different story at the inter-clubs with less post marathon casualties and foreign arrivals ! Joe Sweeney and Brendan O Neill looked very solid at the front though, and great to see Alan McCormick back in the top 5 after a bit of an absence from the racing circuit. Alan O' Brien continuing to show serious cross country strength for a predominantly middle distancer....

Bit of a lack of atmosphere at the races today - quite a large time gap between mens and womens , no commentary, wasn't a great turn out supporters wise, actually think the Dublin novice topped it for atmosphere..
