Internal job interview

I have an interview on Monday for a job in merchandising with the company I work for. To be honest, I do like the sound of the job but I didn't even expect to get an interview as I have no experience in the field but I am a business graduate.

My question is is it possible that they're just interviewing me out of courtesy or do they really think it's possible I can do the job?

Companies don't waste time interviewing people out of courtesy. Does it pay more than your current role ? Do you think you would enjoy it better than your current role ?

Pay hasn't been discussed but I would expect so. That's not the reason I applied though. Merchandising offers more of a challenge and more opportunities to build a career.

That interview involves getting busy managers and even HR officers to give up their time soley to meet you.
And people are not around to waste time.

If you didn't have a shot you would have got a polite letter/email back thanking you for the application and try again another time

So you have a chance :)

Even if you don't get it you'll learn more about the role and will be better prepared next time

Now report back Monday evening, we want an update!

Well, if I'm honest, I expected to get turned down in the first instance and then get a feedback interview about what I could do to improve my chances in the future.

So I have already acheived more than I expected. :) I'll post back on Monday.
