There is always a chance you could be pregnant, even using the pill as prescribed and at its optimum. Stop taking it and reduce the effectiveness and those chances grow. You need to make an appointment with your GP.

If you had unprotected sex then yes there is a chance you could be pregnant. The contraceptive pill does not carry any "residual" protection. By that I mean you could take it consistently for ten years every day, miss one pill, and you can get pregnant. So the fact you used to be on it doesn't make a difference, you need to actually take it when you are meant to in order to be protected.

Or as Ickle Magoo said, you could take it religiously, and there is still a small chance of it not working.

Your best bet is to do a test.

You are probably OK, buy and test and do it, if it's positive go see your GP or family planning clinic.

As soon as you stop taking the pill it stops working, this is why you have to take it everyday. it may take some women a while for their cycle to settle back down but for others their cycle goes back to normal straight away.

You have pretty much the same chance of being pregnant from unprotected sex as someone who has never been on the pill has of getting pregnant from unprotected sex. 350 million chances if 'think contraception' ads are to be believed.

Its too late for the MAP now, so your best bet is to take a pregnancy test and decide what to do from there...

Op you really need to have a long hard think about why you would do this and take such foolish risks!

Mood, the OP is not requesting judgement on their actions, can we keep all posts relevant to their request for advice or they will be deemed off-topic and unhelpful.

    Thanks

Ok. I was not judging but suggesting she try to understands why she did this. I think that if she understands why she got into this situation she will be unlikely to do the same in the future. Surely this is as important as her current situation!

You may view it as important but it isn't what the OP was asking advice on & it's not our place to decide what the OP should or should be considering, especially as they stated in their first post they thought they'd been stupid and certainly the thread title would suggest they are well aware of what their actions are/have been.

If you have an issue with moderation requests can you pm them or any other PI/RI mod rather than drag the thread off topic arguing whatever you deem to be important.

    Thanks

Reddish_Ninja, please don't fish for information from posters to satisfy your curiosity, it is not helpful and nor does it do anything to answer the posters query.

    Many thanks.

Hi Op - firstly I'm a bit confused. Did you just stop the pill after your last packet? Did you stop taking it after your 21days, then take the normal, 7 day break (and had sex within that 7 days), and just not take it again?

As far as I'm aware, during your 7day break, you are still protected by the pill - I have been on different pills in the past, and was protected for the full month, even during that seven day break.

Or did you stop it mid pill?

I think, depending on how long you'd been taking that particular packet beforehand, would determine if you are pregnant or not.

Either way, get yourself a test to clear your mind.
