First of all, a friendly heads up that Jemery Jones' movie Deeper, THE big mountain movie of the year, is free with this month's OnBoard magazine. I normally pick it up from Eason's in O'Connell St and haven't seen it elsewhere, but they didn't have many copies left this morning. Save yourself circa e28 and get the movie as well as a good mag for 8euro - bargain!

Anyway, public service announcement out of the way, what snowboard films are people excited about this season? Betweem myself and a mate we're intending to get Deeper, The Storming, 9191 and Now/Here. We're not fans of rail after rail or banger after banger after banger.... much prefer big mountain stuff or something a bit different (like 9191). Think That's It That's All or the Blank Paper films, where the film is as much about the journey and the narrative as just pure boarding or hits (loved That's It That's All, 91 Words and In short.). But not many films show much of that outside of the extras.

So what are people intending to pick up or watch this season? And anyone got any recommendations for flicks (think I asked this here before)?

On Deeper, just watched it this evening. Epic doesn't cover it. Wow. Just wow. Anyone know if there's much in the way of extras on the full release? The free copy with OnBoard is just the film (not even a menu on the DVD) and we're wondering if we're missing out on much from the full release. Think the second disc has Jones' top moments from previous TGR films, but is there anything else?

Good to hear that Deeper is free with Onboard, i'm waiting for my subscription to come in but not sure if i'll get it this month or next.
I've been looking forward to Deeper since I first saw a trailer last winter so i'm glad to hear that it doesnt disappoint.

I hadnt heard of 9191, so I had a look and it seems like it should be good, different to everything else.
Also looking forward to watching Now/Here and also F it from Forum looks good.

Hello World. - Alterna Action Films - http://alternaactionfilms.com/

    Whats in it ?
There is plenty of back country with huge leaps and loads of powder riding. There is park and urban riding too. I have watched the trailer for Deeper and this doesnt look as epic as Deeper does.

The movie takes you from Canada to the USA, Bosnia and Turkey. You could tell the guys really had a great time filming this flick. There is lots of laughs and joking about. Alterna always have great music for their movies and they didn't disappoint this year either. The Alterna crew really make good use of the camera because they shoot from so many different angles and it makes for some inspiring footage.

I have all of Alternas movies going back to 2005. There are a few faces missing from this movie that were in the past 3/4. Matt Belzile, Matt Beardmore and I young rider I was really looking forward to seeing again called Seb Toots. Seb first appeared in Apples & Oranges. Here is a link to Seb's part in Knockout http://snowboarding.transworld.net/1000092217/videos/full-part-friday-seb-toots/ . I think this young guy is super and is one to watch out for in the future.

I have to say I really enjoyed this film and its definitely one for the collection, but unfortunatelly I dont think its as good as their 2007 movie Apples & Oranges (which is my favourite Alterna movie)

Just an update regarding 9191. I was in Snow&Rock the other day and saw this so I said I'd treat myself a present.
First of all not a bad film and a nice rock thymed soundtrack. Nearly all the shots are backcountry with numerous tricks etc. But my biggest gripe is that's it's only 22 mins long. An absolute disgrace, paid more than €25 that's over €1 a min!!!
Really enjoyed Deeper, although maybe that's because it was free:P
