The church in An Spideal is lovely and handy for the city.

Thanks for that, is Spiddal a parish on its own?

As far as I know Spiddal is another parish to Galway City. Have you looked at Westside church? It isn't a small church but it's layout would accommodate a small wedding and it's very pretty inside.

The Church at the Renmore Barracks is beautiful. Very small and quaint although it tends to book out quickly.

Also, the chapel at N.U.I. G is nice as its quiet small also for a small group.

    Good Luck and congratulations

Claddagh church is also an option. I was going to suggest the two that Sassie mentioned also

Actually the church at NUIG is gorgeous, hadn't thought of that one.

Doesn't one of the couple have to be alumni to use the university chapel?? Their mass times there can make things awkward aswell.

Renmore barracks chapel is beautiful but very small so it gets very warm during the ceremony. The church on Presentation road is lovely but parking is tricky there.

We're going with the Claddagh church, beautiful location, beautiful church with wonderful acoustics and a decent organ, they have a carpark, and the priests are sound. The church itself is quite the little bit of history also.

The Augi is very popular aswell and was recently refurbished but it is quite large!!

    Yes it is

Stunning church indeed and the marble floor makes for some amazing (reflection) shots too. I agree on the parking situation especially if its a weekend ceremony.

In my top 3 churches I love going to - great choice :D

    I wasn't wrong then:D

Think it's a shame they carpeted over the lovely floor tiles in the Pres church tho:(

    +1 for Claddagh

beautiful church in lovely location and perfect for a smaller wedding
it feels warm and cosy inside unlike the cathedral which I find cold and impersonal

    Good luck with your wedding!

Bushypark church is also small and lovely, just in case others are not available. On the outskirts of the city, but still very close!

love the NUI chapel especially the stone wall behind altar. anyone know how many will hold? one thing that might put me off are the stools instead of pews..for a wedding means you cannot do much dexcorating in the aisle. would love to see it set up for a wedding if anyone has any pics

It can hold 200 apparently; tho I would imagine that people would be like sardines if you put 200people in it. The stools are awkward especially if you have any older relatives attending the ceremony. The chapel have mass everyday at 1.10. If there is a wedding on on any given day the 1.10mass goes ahead regardless. This makes things quite awkward, and is a big reason why a lot of couples decide against having their wedding there. Also parking in the college is nigh on impossible now, which is less than ideal. You must be alumni to use the chapel for a wedding also. We seriously considered it, as we both went to college in UCG and in particular for me the chapel has a lot of good association; but weighing up the constraints of the mass time, no parking, and no proper pews we decided against it. Much happier with what we have chosen instead now to be honest. But if you can overcome the negatives and don't plan on having too many people at your ceremony then yes, it is a great venue!

I just sent you a PM with a link to a wedding I shot there this year so you can see the pics. I have never seen any more than 100 in there as it would be a tad tight if it were. :D

This is top of my list for a church as we want somewhere small & intimate.
Have been in for a look but would love to see what its actually like for a wedding.
