I got about 30 minutes into a DVD (Silence of the Lambs) before giving up as parts of it were unwatchable due to it freezing. I looked at the disc and it seems to have a stain on it. The best way of describing it is it's a bit like condensation only dried in and perhaps not removable. Is there any way of fixing it? It's a DVD I've not been near in a long time. Most of my discs are on shelves at the side wall of the house which can be quite cold due to lack of insulation.

Maybe this is in the wrong forum.

DVD rot. Same thing happened to my Silence of the Lambs DVD years ago. That and The Terminator discs were prone to it. You could try getting MGM to replace it.

Bah, I figured that would only set it in after a decade or something. Thanks :)

    You could try 2 things:

    1) Use tissue and a minute amount of water to try and remove the stain.

    2) Use tissue and minuscule amount of toothpaste. Put the tiny dot of toothpaste on the tissue, then rub it into the disc ensuring you get an even thin coat of it on the whole DVD. This sounds mental I know, but it almost always works for me. Try your best to remove the stain before putting the toothpaste on.

Best of luck hope this helps, let us know how it turns out OP ;)

I use polish to shine up discs works great.

you would be better off buying it again for a 5 euro on adverts or gamestop and save yourself the bother

Toothpaste did the trick, oddly enough. Thanks :)
