Lying to Apple

Hi a friend of mine dropped her iphone 4 , which is less than 2 months old on the wooden floor in her sitting room, it has a tiny slight crack which is barely visible to the eye.

The problem is the home buttons are all frozen, if she rings Apple and explains that the home buttons are frozen without telling them it fell will she get away with it, the phone is spotless with no scratches apart from the slight crack.

the reason im asking is she rang a company in Dublin to get it fixed and he said they usually take the phones back and more often than not , dont even check them.

also as the phone is only 2 months old would that be a plus.

thank you for replies in advance!

she should send it back anyway, worst case scenario they will say they want x amount to fix it

Have you tried doing a reset by holding home and sleep together for about 6 seconds or even restoring in iTunes. I'd give that a go first.

yes we did try that and we also restored it! what i mean is the main buttons at the bottom of the screen ie phone messages and ipod!

i guess the touch sensitive pad thing is gone!

well what about if she gets mad and totally denies it was ever dropped! and that its her 1st apple product an all that bla bla!

u can only see the crack if u hold it under light!

The phone will be inspected for physical damage, and will be sent back if the crack isn't disclosed before it is sent.

its quite possible that the internal parts might show a bigger crack .... so if/when they open it up and return saying ..... it had a crack - possibly due to a fall.

    lying makes baby jesus cry

Don't you think the manufacturer may have some idea if its been dropped by the damage done to it?

I think you should lie about it and if they discover the crack say it must have been done when it was in transit. Whats the worse than could happen?
